The Blind Foundation would like to make special mention of two people recognised in the 2018 New Years honours list:
Jim Nicholas received the Queen’s Service Medal for sport and the community. For many years, Jim has given his time to volunteering at the Blind Foundation in Marlborough, and this award is a wonderful acknowledgement of his dedication to the local community.
Naida Glavish has been appointed to New Zealand Order of Merit and awarded as a Dame Companion (DNZM), for services to Māori and the community. The Blind Foundation Board has been fortunate to have Naida’s support as its Tikanga advisor over recent years.
“On behalf of the Blind Foundation community, I would like to congratulate Jim and Naida on their very deserving awards and thank them for making such a difference to the Blind Foundation and other communities in New Zealand,” says Blind Foundation Chief Executive Sandra Budd.
