Winter Ski Day at Mt Hutt – Canterbury

Regular walking group to keep active and explore different walks around Marlborough.

An opportunity to try new things and meet likeminded people. Activities focused on new community opportunities and a sense of adventure.

  • Achilles Run/Walk Hagley Park (external to BF)

When: meets every second Sunday 9.00am-10.30am

Where: Boat Shed Café, Antigua St

Meet up with likeminded people for a run or walk around Hagley Park and a well-earned coffee to finish.

  • Art Sessions and Gallery Audio Described Tours

When: As available throughout the year

Where: Christchurch City Museum, Art Gallery, Theatres

Guided small group tours, this is an opportunity to explore an exhibition in a small guided group, with audio describer volunteers, with coffee to finish. Register your interest to be alerted to these opportunities. (is there a better way to do this? Could they have the option to send an email directly from this?)

When and Where: Various bowls clubs around Christchurch.

If you are interested in Bowls over the summer season, with coaches, let us know and we can connect with a local supportive club.

·         Book Talk

When: Last Tuesday of each month at 1:30pm

Where: The Blind Foundation meeting room, 96 Bristol St.

An opportunity to extend your repertoire of reading material, whether on a daisy player, daisy direct, through book link or in print. Share your thoughts with others on a book chosen for discussion each month and talk about other books you have read.

When: Last Saturday of the month (3x per year)

Where: The Blind Foundation from 10.30am, travels to different destinations in Canterbury and returns 3pm.

When: Meets every Monday from 1.30pm– 3:30pm.

Where: The Blind Foundation Meeting Room, 96 Bristol St, St Albans.

An opportunity for companionship, support with craft activities and a game of housie just for fun.

When: Meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 1.30pm

·         Indoor Blind Bowls

When: Meets every Wednesday afternoon 1:15pm – 3:15pm,

Where: Blind Foundation Hall, 96 Bristol St, St Albans.

When: The last Friday of each month.

Where: In the south and north of Christchurch



·         Rangiora Social Group (Book Club and Walking Group)

When: meets on the third Thursday of each month, from 10am – 12pm

Where: John Knox Church Rangiora, River Rd.

A social group for those local to the Rangiora area, the book club meets and discusses a new book each month, the walking group do a 30 minute walk in local area. The two groups then come together for a coffee and catch up. A $2? Koha is requested.

When: 2nd Friday of each month, 10am

Where: Rangiora Table Bowls Club

Play table bowls in a supportive and social environment. Table bowls is a great sport for everyone, accessible to those with mobility limitations. There is a $3 koha each session.

·         Walking Group – Walking Wonderers

When: 3rd Monday of each month, from 1-3:30pm

Where: Meet at Blind Foundation, 96 Bristol St, St Albans for shared transport to various location in Christchurch.

Keep fit, experience new environments and join this social walking group, enjoy a 40 min walk and finish off with a chat at a café. The group is a supportive environment to get into the outdoors, with staff and volunteers available to provide guiding and support.

·         Walking Group – Trail Walkers

When: First Tuesday of each month, 9:30 – 12pm.

Where: Meet at the Blind Foundation, 96 Bristol St, St Albans for shared transport to various location in Christchurch.

Keep fit, experience new environments and challenge yourself, join this lively walking group for a grunty up to 2 hour walk in the Christchurch area. The group is a supportive environment to get into the great outdoors and increase confidence, guides and support provided.
