Hosting your own Dogs Unite event really is a walk in the park – and we’re here to help every step of the way.
Whether it’s you and a couple of dog-walking friends or you want to open it up to others in your community, your walk can take place anywhere you like, at a time that suits you. So make your dog walk extraordinary and raise funds for guide dogs.
Once you’ve registered your Dogs Unite event, here are a few tips to get you started:
Decide who you want to come
You can hold a Dogs Unite event just with your own friends and family or open it up to your local community and the public to enjoy too.
Choose your venue and date
This could be your local park, sunny beach, or even at an iconic venue (just don’t forget to check the venue allows dogs on site and get permission if you are expecting lots of furry fundraisers!).
Think about logistics
Walk route, distance, start and finish points… A circular route is the easiest to plan but do a test route and signpost the way if it’s not clear. Three to six kilometres is suitable for most dogs and remember to bring plenty of water for yourself and your four-legged friends!
Every doggie participant at your event will receive a superhero dog cape (an accessory a hero simply cannot be without!). These are sent directly to the participants once they have registered.
Set up a fundraising team online
Set up a team on the Dogs Unite fundraising site and invite participants in your event to join it. You’ll be able to see how much your event is raising to support guide dogs. The Dogs Unite team can help you with this.
