Winter Camp 2019 - MiCamp, Taupo

Winter Camp 2019 – MiCamp, Taupo

Where: MiCamp, Taupo
When: Thursday 22 – Sunday 25 August 2019

Winter Camp offers a unique experience for students aged 8 to 12. You will have the opportunity to experience the snow (weather permitting), make new friends and have a go at new activities. Winter Camp is designed for young students who have not been on a Blind Foundation Camp before. This is a great opportunity for students to gain independence with daily living and confidence in a supported and encouraging environment.

It offers the opportunity to participate in various activities, which may include:

  • Fun in the Snow
  • Visiting top attractions in and around Taupo
  • Evening activities/games
  • Camp fire and talent show

Who can attend?

  • Blind and Low Vision 8 to 12 year-old members, who have not experienced a Blind Foundation camp before.
  • Individuals who have some independence with self-care and are able to follow verbal instructions

If your child or student does not meet the above criteria, we do welcome those with additional needs/medical conditions alongside a parent or caregiver.

Cost:   $100 – this will cover 3 nights’ accommodation, travel to and from certain regions in New Zealand along with all meals and activities from Thursday to Sunday (can also cover a parent or caregiver to attend if required for additional needs support at no extra cost). We can support with applying for scholarships to cover the full cost of camp if cost deems as a barrier.

Travel Arrangements:
Travel to and from MiCamp, Taupo may be provided by Blind Foundation staff. All travel arrangements and pick up/drop off locations can be arranged with all successful applicants.

Applications must be received no later than Wednesday 31 July 2019

Please note that not all applicants may be able to participate. This could be because you may not meet the criteria and/or we may receive a lot more applications than there are places. For Winter Camp 2019 we can only cater for a maximum of 12 participants, this means applications will be done by selection process. Once applicants have been accepted, all travel arrangements and payments will be discussed – please do not make payments until accepted.
