BookLink training sessions: #2 BookLink Basics
The Blind Foundation will be running training sessions around Auckland for BookLink users. The sessions are broken down in three types (#1, #2, #3) and is designed to meet the needs of people at various stages of confidence and ability with Apple iPad/iPhone/iPod and BookLink. You may decide to come to just one of the numbered sessions. Or, you may want to work your way through all of them, step by step. You may even find you want to come to the same session more than once.
BookLink session types
#1 Introduction to Apple and BookLink
Suitable for: People who are interested in BookLink and are totally new to Apple iPad/iPhone/iPod. Feel free to bring a support person.
#2 BookLink Basics
Suitable for: New BookLink users and people thinking about registering for BookLink who have some experience with Apple iPad/iPod/iPhone.
#3 BookLink: Beyond the Basics
Suitable for: Existing BookLink users who are confident with Apple accessibility and BookLink’s basic features, who are interested in BookLink’s advanced features.
Session details for #2 BookLink Basics
Session dates: Thursday 28 July, 4 August
Session time: 12:30 to 2pm.
In this session we’ll walk through the basic features of BookLink. We’ll be using VoiceOver, the built-in gesture-based screen reader on Apple devices. To learn to use the advanced features of BookLink, we recommend following this session with session #3 BookLink: Beyond the Basics. By the end of this session you will be able to do the following using basic VoiceOver gestures:
- Navigate to the BookLink app on your device and open BookLink.
- Select, download and read an audio magazine, using the BookLink player in simple and standard mode.
- Search for an audio book in basic search mode using dictation and download it, ready to read it in your own time.
