2018 EPIC Youth Event
The Blind Foundation is excited to be running an EPIC youth event this year, 4 inspiring days of adventure activities, workshops and personal development, held in Nelson.
Where: Bridge Valley Adventure Centre, Nelson
Dates: 28th June – 1st July 2018
Cost: $150 – includes travel from main centers, accommodation during camp and all meals during camp. If you would like to attend and cost is a barrier there are funding options available, please contact Hannah Jones.
Travel: Flights are included in the cost of the event. Flights will be booked for participants from either Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch or Queenstown. All other travel arrangements is the responsibility and cost to the participant.
What Is EPIC?
EPIC stands for Encouraging, Participating, Inspiring and Connecting, young adults. The event will run a workshop based programme covering leadership and life skills. The programme will also include some challenging and confidence building camp activities such as high ropes and rock climbing.
Who should attend
This event is open to participants aged between 17-30 years who are interested in connecting with new people, learning new skills and challenging themselves.
You will be
- Willing to be an active team member of the group, participating fully in workshops and activities.
- Have good adaptive daily living, orientation and mobility skills.
- Be part of a community, this includes shared accommodation.
- Support people are welcome to attend, please contact us for more information.

When and where?
The 4 day event will be held in Nelson at Bridge Valley Adventure Centre, 28 Moore Road Wakefield, Nelson. On Thursday 28th June participants will travel to Nelson in the morning and the event will begin at 3pm. We will be staying in shared accommodation and all meals will be provided at the venue. We will have 2 and half full days of programmed workshops and activities. Departing from 4pm Sunday 1st July.
Applications for EPIC close Friday 1st June 2018. Please get your application in early as we will not be able to accept late applications for this event.
